Description
Toluene diisocyanate, better known as TDI, is an organic compound with the molecular formula CH3C6H3(NCO)2. From the Isocyanate family, TDI can be found in the form of six isomers (compounds with the same molecular formula but different molecular structures), the most common being: 2,4 - toluene diisocyanate and 2,6 - toluene diisocyanate. To form the foam block, TDI reacts with polyols and water through two reactions: polymerization, to form the cellular structure of the foam, and the expansion reaction, forming CO2. These two reactions take place using catalysts and surfactants, optimizing the process. TDI comes in liquid form, pale yellow or colorless.
Applications
Widely used in the manufacture of flexible foams for mattresses, automotive interiors, construction parts, adhesives, sealants, coatings, resins and elastomers.
Benefits
Product of Argentine origin, extremely recognized quality in the market.
